Minister Delic: New Generations of Workers expect completely different Conditions and Opportunities

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adnan Delić, stated today in Sarajevo that the upcoming “Look After Your Job” fair will be an opportunity to jointly seek answers to the most important issues of the labor market, including migration, which is inevitable, and new generations of workers who expect completely different conditions and opportunities.

At a press conference, Delić reminded that last year, employers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that they were missing 20,000 workers, and these employers are talking about 50,000, however, we do not have precise and official data on which worker profiles are really missing. Delić stated that it is precisely because of these inconsistencies and gaps that fairs like this one are important because they bring together all stakeholders and give everyone the opportunity to better understand the perspectives on the labor market.

“I believe that with realistic data and cooperation, we can build a labor market that will offer security and a future here in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Delić emphasized.

The spokesperson for the Federal Employment Agency, Haris Čuljević, said that the experience from last year’s fair showed how much such events can have concrete and positive results, not only in the number of jobs created, but also in strengthening mutual cooperation between institutions.

UN Women Representative for BiH Jo-Anne Bishop emphasized that the fair is a catalyst for opportunities to build a more inclusive and stronger economy in BiH and called on women who are currently not part of the workforce, of which there are over 60 percent in BiH, to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Director of the Fund for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ahmet Baljić, said that the fair means a lot to the fund because in the past few years, unfortunately, many funds intended for the employment of persons with disabilities have remained unspent following all public calls.

He added that many from this category are still not familiar with the rights they can exercise with the Fund, and the fair could be an opportunity to change that.

The employment and career development fair “Look for a Job 2025” will gather more than 100 companies and thousands of job seekers in Sarajevo on October 6th and 7th, and this year, the fair’s application will allow employers to post ads for free, and the unemployed to search for jobs.
