Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Adnan Delić sent the FBiH Employers’ Association a response to the document “What do employers expect from the authorities”, saying that numerous demands of the business community are already included in the reforms initiated by Narod i Pravda.
“The economy cannot plan development from one decision to the next, workers cannot build security on uncertainty, and the state cannot progress if its regulations and institutions lag behind real life,” said Delić.
He singled out as priorities the relief of the economy, the reduction of unjustified parafiscal levies, the reform of the labor market, the digitization of the administration, simpler procedures, the connection of education with the needs of the economy and the strengthening of legal security.
He reminded that the FBiH Employment Strategy 2023-2030 was adopted, legal work for regular students was made possible, and a new Labor Law and amendments to the Law on Employment of Foreigners were prepared.
He particularly pointed out the Law on mediation in employment, which separates active job seekers from persons who are on the records to exercise other rights, gets a more realistic picture of the workforce and turns employment services into active mediators.
“When HDZ-HNS, HDZ 1990, SDA and Party for BiH did not support the law, we did not give up. Additionally, we harmonized the text and re-submitted it to the procedure,” he stated.
The new Labor Act regulates remote work, modern forms of work, electronic records, working hours and protection of workers’ privacy.
“Without a strong economy, there are no new jobs, but there is no long-term successful economy without skilled and adequately paid workers. Our task is to build a system in which companies can grow, workers can live with dignity from their work, and the rules apply equally to everyone. We were on that side when decisions had to be made and reforms implemented. We will remain on that side in the next mandate,” Delić concluded.
