The US State Department welcomed the continuation of the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade with the special representative of the European Union (EU) in Brussels and called for the discussions to continue urgently.

“These are talks that we welcome. And they are taking place today as part of the EU-mediated dialogue in Brussels and include a discussion on the new currency regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo. We believe that these discussions should continue urgently,” said the State Department’s chief deputy spokesman Vedant Patel last night.

Patel added that dialogue is the only channel for resolving issues related to the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

“The United States of America has been clear in expressing its concern regarding the new regulation that restricts the entry and use of dinars in Kosovo, we have expressed some concern about it, and we have also reiterated our calls to Kosovo and Serbia to de-escalate tensions,” said the deputy spokesman.

In Brussels yesterday, after separate meetings, a tripartite meeting of chief negotiators Petar Petković and Besnik Bisljimi with EU special representative Miroslav Lajčak was held.

After the meeting, Petković stated that one of Belgrade’s proposals for solving the issue of the dinar as a means of payment in Kosovo is the continuation of the work of “Poštanska štedionica”.

Lajčak announced on the social network X that the negotiators agreed to continue the conversation on Monday, March 25, Beta news agency writes.
