The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe set up a video presentation and a published newsletter with photos and texts dedicated to the seminar held in Sarajevo on 21 November 2012.

The Commission for Gender Equality of the House of Representatives BiH organized the seminar, in cooperation with the Network of Parliamentarians of the Council of Europe “Women Free From Violence”, with the purpose to promote the Istanbul Convention dedicated to preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.

The “Handbook for Parliamentarians” was presented at the seminar, translated by the Council of Europe in the languages spoken in BiH.

Member of the Permanent Delegation of the BiH Parliament Ismeta Dervoz, the first Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Gender Equality of the BiH House of Representatives and the member of the Network of Parliamentarians of the Council of Europe, met in the first part of the regular session of the Council of Europe with the General Rapporteur for problems of violence against women, Mendes Mota.

She thanked him for involving our Parliamentarians in a way that recognized and valued them.

Both expressed hope that BiH will in the upcoming period finish the already begun process and will sign and ratify the Istanbul Convention.
