Despite the Bans, a Rally in Mostar in Support of the Palestinian People

Although the organizers canceled the meeting, and the City of Mostar refused to give consent for any public display of support for both Israel and Palestine, the citizens of Mostar gathered at Musala Square with banners and flags of Palestine to support the Palestinian people.

Traffic is blocked in that part of the city, and members of the Ministry of Interior of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton supervise the gathering.

Fans of Velež “Red Army” also confirmed their arrival. On their Facebook page, they wrote that all citizens of Mostar and Herzegovina should respond to the rally so that their support would be a small incentive for Palestine not to give up on the path of truth.

In addition to the protest rally, a humanitarian bazaar is also taking place, and all proceeds go to help Palestine.

Rallies in support of the Palestinian people were held first in Sarajevo, and were announced in several other BiH cities.

The Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, previously said that in front of the City of Mostar, they refused to give consent for any public display of support for Israel and Palestine, considering that such acts create a negative atmosphere in this city.

“We will maintain this position in the future, we will not encourage or support any public gatherings that can further destabilize our society. Let’s be sincerely compassionate and respect the victims of all wars, and let’s stop building political careers on the basis of cheap politics,” said Kordić.

Then the association of the Palestinian community in BiH announced that “respecting the laws and procedures and not wanting the peaceful gathering of support to be politicized in any way, and the aggression against the Palestinian people used for political purposes, they will give up the request”.
