sudOrthodox believers in Republika Srpska (RS) have the right on paid absence from work today and tomorrow – on the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the Law on Holidays of the RS.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of RS announced that the entity holiday, the Day of RS, will be celebrated on the 9th of January and it will be a non-working day.

To recall, the Constitutional Court of B&H declared the Day of RS as unconstitutional in late 2015.

During the entity holidays, bodies and organizations of the entities, bodies of local self-government, companies, institutions and other organizations and persons that are professionally engaged in services and producing activities will not be working, as announced from the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of RS.

The Ministry stated that it is prescribed by the law that the Mayor of the municipality or town will determine which companies, institutions and other organizations in the area of local government units will be required to work on holiday of the Day of RS and to which extent in order to satisfy the needs of citizens.
