Despite the high Temperatures, a great Number of Tourists were recorded on the Streets of Sarajevo

Even extremely high temperatures did not prevent tourists from visiting Sarajevo’s Baščaršija today in the bright sun and visiting the sights of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Tourists from different parts of the world “occupied” the streets of Sarajevo today, and a large number of visitors is particularly noticeable in the old town center of Sarajevo.

Those for whom the heat is not a problem, and these are mostly the younger ones, took the opportunity to visit the shops in Baščaršija, then Sarajevo’s beauty Vijećnica, and take photos as a souvenir. The slightly older ones still decided to find some shade, cool off with an ice cream or some refreshing drink.

This summer as well, Sarajevo and Old Town (Stari Grad)are favorite destinations for thousands of tourists from the region, Europe and the whole world. According to unofficial estimates, and based on the visits achieved so far, this summer season could exceed the record from 2019.

According to information from the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, in the first six months of this year, 20-30% more tourists visited Sarajevo than last year, which equals the figures from the record-breaking year 2019.

Reporters were convinced of this fact by yesterday‘s walk through the old town center. Foreign and domestic tourists are present at every step, especially in Ferhadija Street and Bascarsija.

In front of the Cathedral, Alex from Antwerp, Belgium was interviewed, as it was announced from the Municipality of Stari Grad.

“I just arrived in Sarajevo and it seems like a very interesting city. This area around the Cathedral reminds me a lot of Vienna. I had no intention of coming here, I was previously in Albania and with a group of friends we decided to come here and now I see that I was not wrong. I don’t know much about the history of this city and country, but I will try to find out and learn as much as possible”, Alex told.

Australian Yasmine from Perth was with the Alex from Belgium. “I heard a lot of positive things about Sarajevo and firmly decided to come. Europe, and especially the Balkans, is very interesting to me. After Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), I intend to visit Croatia and Albania,” said Yasmine, Biznis Info reports.
