The persons arrested in the “Code” operation smuggled 20 kilograms of cocaine, 130 kilograms of marijuana, 52,000 pieces of ecstasy tablets, 60 kilograms of amphetamine, and a certain amount of heroin and substances for drug production, said the head of the East Sarajevo Police Department, Branimir Šehovac.
Šehovac said that 12 persons were handed over to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in East Sarajevo, and it was established that the illegal property benefit obtained during the execution of the criminal acts of illegal drug production and trafficking amounts to 2,750,000 BAM.
He added that one passenger vehicle was also found, which was stolen in January in the area of Rogatica.
According to him, during this action, searches were carried out at 27 locations in the municipalities of East Ilidža, East Novo Sarajevo, Pale, East Stari Grad, Banja Luka and in the area of Sarajevo Canton.
Šehovac noted that they carried out the action together with the Directorate for Serious and Organized Crime and Europol, under the supervision of the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in East Sarajevo, where during the implementation of that action they deprived 14 people of their freedom.
“We will continue to oppose all types of criminal acts and we will certainly continue to work to suppress the illegal production and trafficking of drugs, as well as to break up the criminal groups that operate in this area,” pointed out Šehovac.
