International technical cooperation is the main instrument of knowledge exchange that contributes to preparations for membership in the European Union (EU), strengthening coordination in BiH, the region and the EU, it was concluded during the bilateral meeting of officials of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) and the high-level delegation of the Deutsche Bundesbank (German Federal Bank), which visited the CBBH today.
Members of the CBBH Board of Directors – Vice Governors Ernadina Bajrović, Marko Vidaković and Željko Marić, informed the Bundesbank delegation consisting of Burkhard Balz, a member of the Executive Board of the Bundesbank, Martin Dinkelborg, director of the Center for International Dialogue and Peter Spicka, coordinator for IPA projects, about current affairs in conducting the business operation of the CBBH.
With gratitude for the cooperation and support provided by the Deutsche Bundesbank to the CBBH, the importance of strengthening partnership and inter-institutional dialogue was highlighted.
The focus of the discussion was the implementation of the Program for strengthening the capacity of the central banks of the Western Balkans with the aim of integration into the European system of central banks.
In addition to the CBBH, entity banking agencies also participate in the program.
The status of BiH as a candidate country for EU membership poses new challenges to the CBBH and requires a clear engagement of both the CBBH and all institutions in BiH, which work together to strengthen the institutional capacities of the CBBH and the financial system in BiH, stated the CBBH.
