The Swedish driver of BiH roots and a member of the Ferrari driver’s academy Dino Beganović got a new opportunity to perform in a Ferrari car in the first free practice for the Austrian Grand Prix, where he replaced Charles Leclerc.
Beganović left a very good impression and finished the training session with the ninth fastest time.
His fastest lap was 1.2 seconds slower than today’s fastest Antonelli, and the Swedish driver was also almost six tenths of a second slower than teammate Lewis Hamilton, who was the faster Ferrari driver in this session.
During training, he drove very aggressively and confidently, without major mistakes, confirming that he does well in a Formula 1 car.
At the end of the session, he thanked the Ferrari team via radio for the trust shown and the opportunity to drive for the Italian team again.
It is interesting that both Beganović and Hamilton used the old specification of the Ferrari drive unit in the first free practice session. From Saturday, Ferrari will install an updated power unit in both cars, which it expects to see further improvements in performance during the rest of the race weekend.
For Beganović, this is another important performance as part of the Ferrari Academy program and a new opportunity to prove himself in the fastest car championship in the world.
The first free practice went to this season’s leading pilot, Kimi Antonelli in Mercedes. The young Italian was narrowly faster than George Russell, Klix.ba writes.
