Director of the Central Intelligence Agency of the US arrives in Sarajevo

Director of the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States of America, William Burns, arrived in Sarajevo today.

As Klix.ba has learned, Burns should hold several meetings today in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he is also scheduled to meet with the Director of the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA) Almir Džuvo and members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This is not the first time that Burns has come to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he previously came to the capital as an assistant to the US Secretary of State.

At that time, Burns was particularly interested in the political situation in BiH and the work of the OHR.

What is interesting is that Burns then showed a special interest in the issue of the functioning of state property and the problems that are current in that context.

Taking into account the fact that Burns stayed in BiH on several occasions, it can be said that the director of the CIA is an excellent expert on the state of affairs in the country.

“At all my meetings, I clearly said that we remain firmly committed to and support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement,” Burns said in 2012 during a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Also, Burns then confirmed that Washington supports the work of the OHR.

“And while success depends on the readiness and commitment of the leaders and citizens of this country, the United States of America was, is and will be a true friend of this country and will support a modern, stable and prosperous BiH that is fully integrated into Europe,” Burns said at the time.

Burns was appointed to the position of CIA Director in 2021, and President Biden promoted him to the Cabinet in June 2023.

During his rich and long service, Burns served six presidential administrations, and his career spans more than four decades, Klix.ba writes.
