Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović met today in Zagreb with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, with whom he discussed the current political moment in BiH and bilateral relations and cooperation, with an emphasis on European reforms and energy diversification of BiH.

Special attention is devoted to the priorities of further action, emphasizing the strong engagement in protecting the rights and interests of the Croatian people as a constituent nation in BiH, as well as projects that are implemented in BiH with the support of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, especially in the area of economic initiatives, infrastructural, health and educational investments.

Čović expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of the Government of the Republic of Croatia in efforts to speed up BiH’s European path.

He emphasized that the Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to work hard to preserve political stability, speed up reforms and achieve the ultimate protection of the rights and interests of the Croatian people in accordance with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while cooperation with Croatia, as stated, plays a key role in ensuring legitimate political representation.

He particularly emphasized the importance of further development of economic cooperation and strategic projects that contribute to the stability and well-being of the inhabitants of BiH, emphasizing in particular the Southern Gas Interconnection project as a strategic interest and, as he said, the most important modern energy project, the implementation of which, together with representatives of the administration of the United States of America, will ensure further stability and development of BiH, as well as the necessary diversification of gas supply.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, emphasized the continuous commitment of the Government to a better position of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the same time, he emphasized the need to speed up reforms and changes in electoral legislation in order to ensure the equality of all three constitutive peoples in BiH.

He also confirmed the commitment to cooperation on strategic projects and investments in energy, traffic connectivity and cross-border initiatives that contribute to the long-term stability and economic development of BiH. He said that the Government of the Republic of Croatia continues to support the implementation of the strategic project of the Southern Gas Interconnection.
