Director of the USAID’s Office for Democratization visits Central Election Commission

Director of the Office for Democratization of the US Agency for International Development in BiH (USAID BiH), Peter Cronin, today visited the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he met with the president and members of the CEC BiH and informed them about the goals of the four-year project “Support to Electoral Integrity in BiH”, which will be financially supported by USAID, announced the CEC BiH.

The President of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Suad Arnautović, reminded of the previous cooperation and thanked for the support that the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina received from the government of the United States whether it was the support of the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the International Foundation for electoral systems (IFES) or support that was realized in partnership with some other organizations but from the funds of the US Embassy in BiH and USAID.

During the meeting, Arnautović also announced the activities of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The planned activities relate to the implementation of the “Test project of European Union support for the introduction of new technologies in the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and the organization of a post-election conference where the electoral process and challenges faced by the electoral administration during the implementation of the 2022 General Elections which should result in recommendations for improving the electoral process and legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At a meeting with the director of USAID in BiH, the Central Election Commission of BiH proposed potential projects in order to consider the possibility that USAID in BiH through its partner organizations actively support their implementation.
