fineTourists who did not have registered residence, at the exit from Montenegro, are charged with a fine in the amount of 60 EUR and not 300 EUR.

This was announced from the Police Directorate of Montenegro after the media got the information that BH citizens, who do not have registered residence, are being charged with a fine in the amount of 300 EUR after leaving the Montenegro, as reported by Bokanews.com.

However, Sandra Radojevic from Buljarice said that, at the exit from Montenegro, her guests, who were properly registered, were asked to pay 300 EUR.

“In case that, during border checks at the exit from Montenegro, gets determined that the foreigner did not submit an application or checked-out the residence, than the border police, according to the Law on Offences, may issue a misdemeanor warrant on the fine in the amount of 60 EUR. If the foreigner accepts the fine than it gets reduced by one-third, to 40 EUR,” according to the Police Directorate.

Representatives of the Police stated that according to the Law on foreigners, a foreigner will be punished with a fine in the amount of 60 – 600 EUR for the offense of not submitting an application or check-out of the residence, within the deadline.

In cases where the foreigner is using the services of provider of accommodation, then the obligation of submitting the application or checking out the foreigner to the police is on the provider of accommodation within 12 hours of the arrival of the foreigner, as stated by the Police Directorate.

They emphasize that a foreigner who resides in Montenegro for tourist purposes, and not using the services of accommodation provider, can submit and check out residence through travel agencies or through tourist organizations. The fine for the accommodation provider who fails to register a foreigner that is staying in the accommodation amounts from 500 to 3,000 EUR.

For this offense, the responsible person in the legal entity will be punished with 150 to 500 EUR, the person who provides accommodation with 150 to 500 EUR, and the entrepreneur from 300-1500 EUR, as stated from the Police Directorate.
