Flood Damage in RS novovrijeme.baAt yesterday’s marking of the anniversary of the catastrophic floods that ravaged the municipality of Šamac, the President of the RS Milorad Dodik said that this natural disaster swept away an entire budget in the RS, which is more than 2 billion BAM.

On the occasion of this anniversary, the letters of gratitude-which state ”For the outstretched hand of humanity during the floods in May 2014”-were presented to the most deserving individuals and companies who participated in the rescue of people and the reconstruction of their destroyed homes and infrastructure.

“On behalf of every frightened child’s look on this day last year; in the name of every concerned mother; on behalf of every sick and old resident of Šamac; on behalf of people who on this day last year saw the greatest catastrophe in the history of this municipality and this city, let me tell you one largest-from the heart to the heavens-thank you”, said in his address to the attending guests the Mayor of Šamac Savo Minić.

The President of the RS Milorad Dodik said that these days will be, besides the damage and everything that has been challenging, remembered for the great human solidarity.

He added that, despite the tribulations that had come upon them, the residents of Šamac have not lost the hope in life, and they returned to their homes and farms immediately after the withdrawal of water.

“We did not remain silent to that and we have responded. During all the past days and months, we did not abandon this municipality. As the Republic, we have an intention to continue to invest in the recovery from the damage that this natural disaster has resulted in”, Dodik said, noting that the RS has suffered enormous damage since the disaster, amounting to more than 2 billion BAM.
