Dodik is asking the Central Bank of BiH for 800 million BAM for the Entity’s Commodity Reserves

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Milorad Dodik held a press conference in East Sarajevo yesterday, where he spoke about the crisis between Russia and Ukraine and economic problems in Europe.

He said at the beginning that it has now turned out to be a good thing that BiH is not in NATO because today the soldiers from BiH would have to go to Ukraine to wage war.

Expressing his position on the events in Eastern Europe, he said that as a representative of Republika Srpska (RS), he could not allow any decision to be made to the detriment of relations with Russia.

“We believe that a policy of peace and security should be ensured, there is a lot of conflicting information, inaccurate, so we do not know what is happening. I am absolutely convinced that part of the policy pursued from the West is part of an overall strategic orientation,”  said Dodik, stating that the policy is aimed at the greatest possible separation of Russians and Ukrainians.

On that occasion, he quoted Otto von Bismarck: “The strength of the Russians can only be undermined if Ukraine separates from it, and not only if they separate, but they must be opposed,” Dodik believes that this is exactly the policy pursued by the West, but not only in Eastern Europe but also in the Western Balkans.

He commented that this was unprincipled behavior “characteristic of the international community”, which violates international law, and drew parallels with NATO’s activities in the region. He mentioned the bombing of Serbia and the appointment of a high representative in BiH and assessed both as a violation of rights because there was no complete agreement.

Further, he then moved on to the economic part of the presentation, where he said that current tensions are putting additional pressure on the economy in Europe. He states that the entire continent could fall into crisis and that is why the Central Bank of BiH should use the monetary reserve in convertible marks.

“I have several important proposals here. Economic policies should be devised within the entities. There is a serious reserve in the Central Bank BiH, which shows that there is 400 million euros more than we have in the issue… This should be used urgently to form commodity reserves,” he noted.

In addition to this economic one, he made another proposal, which refers to the amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH.

He thinks that persons who have committed serious crimes and have been sentenced to imprisonment, if they repeat that crime, the sentence should be doubled next time. If someone repeats a crime three times, he believes that life imprisonment should be introduced for such people.
