Dodik: Military Alliance between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo a Threat to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, said that a military alliance between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo would be particularly dangerous for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as it could lead to further destabilization and divisions.

“Such an alliance would be especially dangerous for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as it would cause additional destabilization and divisions, with each constituent people taking sides,” Dodik wrote on the social media platform X.

He stated that the Western Balkans needs stability, development, investment, and open borders for the free movement of goods and people, adding that the region “certainly does not need new military alliances such as the one between Croatia, Albania and so-called Kosovo.”

The Region Needs “Bridges, Not Blocs”

“The obvious question is: What is the purpose of this alliance? What is its real objective, and whom is it meant to protect against? Or is it perhaps intended to threaten the Serb people and send us a political message?” Dodik said.

He assessed that the region needs “bridges, not blocs.”

“Promoting and appeasing a revived Ustasha ideology, along with initiatives that create further divisions, takes us back to a time when hostility toward Serbs was being sought,” Dodik said.

He added that Republika Srpska remains committed to stability and cooperation but will not ignore moves that could undermine the fragile balance in the Balkans.
