President of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) entity of the Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik accused the United States (U.S.) ambassador Michael Murhpy of being anti-Serb because he ignored the meeting near Doboj that indirectly rehabilitates the Chetniks.
In the village of Boljanic near Doboj, a meeting was held to mark the anniversary of “Operation Halyard”, which was organized by the Allies in 1944 during the Second World War in order to evacuate their pilots from Yugoslav territory whose planes were shot down there.
The operation was carried out with the partial support of the Chetnik Draza Mihailovic, but it was only a minor part of the effort to save the allied pilots.
According to the data of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) at the time, less than 2,400 airmen were successfully evacuated from the former Yugoslavia, of which around two thousandswere saved by Tito’s partisans.
Dodik claimed that 60 allied pilots were evacuated from the improvised airfield near Doboj with the help of Chetniks. He emphasized that Operation Halyard proves that Serbs have always supported justice and anti-fascism.
However, Dodik was clearly shaken by the fact that, unlike the one in Serbia, none of the representatives of the U.S., including Ambassador Murphy, came to the commemoration of this operation.
“He didn’t come and he doesn’t want to see this. And he doesn’t have to, but the facts can’t be hidden. I thank the president of the Haliyard Foundation, John Capel, for preserving the memory of the Yugoslav army’s freedom struggle in the homeland,” added Dodik.
Dodik said that he understands that the RS has no relations with them, but this is an event that they should have attended out of courtesy, not because of Milorad Dodik, because this is notdedicated to him, but because this is about saving people from the U.S. and Great Britain.
“It absolutely speaks of the lowliness of U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy and his policy that he advocates. This is an America that we don’t know and that is not in our favor at all, it is an America that is against the Serbs in Kosovo and the RS,” Dodik emphasizes.
Dodik says that such America will lose because it cannot overcome the cynicism it has, emphasizing that Murphy himself did not come here because he does not know how he would return to Sarajevo later, fearing how that city will react to the presentation of the film about “Haliyard”.
He said that “the Muslim and Croatian people were mostly on the side of fascism during the Second World War”, emphasizing that Murphy is on their side today, and not on the side of the memory of this event.
“They only say something when it is against the Serbs and the Serbian people. Imagine – Murphy said in an interview a few weeks ago, The Serbian people love me. Why didn’t he come here to see how much they love him,” asked Dodik, Klix.ba reports.
