The defense of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, accused of disobeying the decisions of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, is asking the State Court to start the trial against him and Miloš Lukić from the beginning due to the 30-day deadline since the last hearing.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed that Dodik’s defense submitted a motion on January 15 requesting that the trial be restarted, with the reading of the indictment.

The last hearing in this case, where evidence was presented, was held on December 5. Another hearing, where expert findings on Dodik’s health were presented, was held on December 30. At that time, Judge Sena Uzunović asked the parties whether they would request a re-presentation of evidence in the continuation of the proceedings due to the 30-day deadline, and the Prosecution and Lukić’s defense stated that they would not, while Dodik’s defense attorney Goran Bubić said that he must first consult with the accused and members of the legal team.

At a status conference held on December 30, expert witnesses presented their findings on Dodik’s ability to travel to trial and participate in the proceedings following the surgery in Belgrade, and the next hearing is scheduled for January 29, Detektor writes.
