The Representative Office of the Foundation Dogs Trust in BiH officially marked five years of its support to BiH and on this occassion, they announced the construction of one of the most modern centers for the adoption of dogs, whose value will amount to about 20 million BAM, which will take place in the territory of the municipality of Ilidza.

On that occasion, the Executive Director of the Foundation Adrian Burder and Mayor of Ilidza Senaid Memic signed the Memorandum of Understanding, with which were defined guidelines for the establishment of the Center.

In this process, the Foundation would fund the entire construction, equipping and work of the center, while the municipality is ready to temporarily give them the land for use on the longest permitted legal period.

Mayor Memic added that the Municipality Ilidza will give them unlimited space for the construction of the center as well.

“This project will also help the local economy because the construction and equipping of the center, as well as its regular maintenance, will be conducted by local suppliers and companies, while around 40 new workplaces will be opened in the center itself,” said Burder.

He noted that the Foundation decided to stay in BiH for five years because of the great team that they have in Sarajevo.

“I think that we can be satisfied with what we have achieved through five programs and with our local partners all across the country on the topic of dealing with abandoned dogs, but also on raising the awareness and changing some key concepts,” said the head of the Representative Office of Dogs Trust Foundation in BiH, Anel Becirovic.

The Dog Trust, with its headquarters in the United Kingdom, is one of the largest dog foundations and it has been operating under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth II since the year of 1990.

“Their slogan ‘A dog is for life, not just for Christmas’ became famous. Employees of this foundation are experts in their field and they advise governments on solving the problem of stray dogs in a humane way and in accordance with standards of the EU,” stated British Ambassador to BiH, Edward Ferguson, at the ceremony on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Dogs Trust Foundation in BiH.
