“While I stand here, many young people in Ukraine, Palestine and other places are looking at their bloody children, and the world is silent and doing nothing. The world and Europe are doing nothing, they are silent and they have done nothing after the Holocaust.”

Denis Bećirović, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a speech at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, said that it is a human duty to express sympathy with the families of those killed who will be buried in the cemetery today, as well as with the families of all victims of genocide in and around Srebrenica.

Bećirović said that special respect should be shown to the mothers of Srebrenica.

“They are the true heroines of our time. Their courage and unwavering spirit serve as an inspiration to all of us. Their fight for truth and justice reminds us of the importance of individual action in the fight against evil and injustice. The strength of the heroines of Srebrenica and Podrinje reminds us that even in the darkest moments, love is stronger than hate, and truth is stronger than lies,” said Bećirović.

The High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, spoke at the commemoration on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.

“It is imperative for society to reject any form of minimizing the genocide in Srbrenica and that is the task of all of us. We need additional efforts here.”

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić is one of those present at the commemoration in Srebrenica.

“It’s the same every year. A man simply cannot come cold and pretend that something doesn’t touch him. I’m always haunted by the same images that we’ve had the opportunity to see for 95 years and through people’s testimonies. It’s always a burden, I have to tell you on your back and keeps you for days and does not pass.”

Edin Forto entered the book of memories and mourning, which comes to Srbrenica with special emotions.

“Every year we say that the victims and survivors are the most important and it is important to talk about them. Today we need to talk about the victims and those who need to be buried.”

Ćamil Duraković, the vice president of the Republika Srpska, tried to point out the obstacles of life they face in Srebrenica.

“Today we are focused on the commemoration and later we will focus on the promises that will be made here. We must focus on life. when it comes to death we try to preserve memories, but at the same time the mission is to preserve Srbrenica and the living.

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, said on her X profile:

“Today we honor the victims of genocide. As we look to a brighter European future for BiH, true reconciliation needs to be achieved. Let this day be a reminder and a warning.”

The president of the HDZ party of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that the memory of the genocide in Srebrenica should be a permanent obligation to preserve peace.

“Today, on the 29th anniversary of the terrible crime, the world collectively remembers the pain and victims of Srebrenica. Let the memory of the genocide in Srebrenica and all the innocent lives taken be a permanent obligation to keep the peace, but also a warning that such evil never happens again.”

I will come to Srebrenica and Potočare to honor the victims of these martyrs, said the Metropolitan of the Montenegrin Orthodox Church Mihajlo, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the UN protected area of Srebrenica.
