The Bosnia and Herzegovina national basketball team lost to host France in the final round of EuroBasket qualifiers in Orleans after a great fight and drama.
The Dragons played a great first quarter, even having a seven-point lead (14:21), and ended this period with an 18:21 advantage. Unfortunately, the Bosnian team lost Ajdin Penava early on, who was injured, which further shortened our team’s rotation.
By halftime, the Tricolors made a turnaround with a lot of difficulty, going into the break with a 34:32 lead.
Adis Bećiragić’s team shone in the third period, with great defense and several good plays, even taking a nine-point lead (48:57), and entering the final period with a 51:57 lead.
The Bosnian basketball players opened the last period excellently, taking the lead again with a seven-point difference thanks to Alibegović’s points (53:60). But then Xavier Castaneda got injured and left the floor.
With two consecutive three-pointers by Strazel and a dunk by Luwawu-Cabarrot, the hosts tied the score at 70:70, before Makoundou dunked for 72:70, and Okobo scored for 74:70.
But the brave Dragons came back – Kamenjaš and Vrabac tied the score at 74:74, with 14 seconds left.
The last attack by France followed, with Okobo scoring at the sound of the siren for the final 76:74.
The most efficient players for BiH were Xavier Castaneda with 16, Aleksandar Lazić with 15 and Amar Alibegović with 14 points, Basket.ba writes.
