Drivers from BiH and the Region to Protest at Freight Crossings towards the EU

The Logistics Consortium of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that today at noon, the regional protest of transporters at cargo border crossings with the EU will begin.

The protest was announced due to accumulated problems related to the stay of drivers in the Schengen countries, and one of the reasons is the new system of entry into the EU, and, as they state, the absence of an adequate reaction from the institutions of the European Union and the Schengen countries, when it comes to the status of professional drivers.

Professional drivers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro, are exposed to unacceptable pressures, including arrests, deportations and bans on entering the Schengen area.

According to their claims, the new rules seriously threaten the work of international carriers, prolong detentions at the borders and further complicate the already complex transport procedures.

From the Logistics Consortium, they note that road transport participates with more than 94 percent in the functioning of BiH’s supply chains, and they say that without domestic carriers, there is no export, import, industry, or market stability.
