Electric Tram Replica klix.baOn Tuesday, an honorary ride in a replica of the first electric tram from 1895 will be organized in Sarajevo.

In 1885, Sarajevo was the first European city to have a day-long tram line, which opened for the New Year. Initially, during the era, all trams were run by horses.

The first electric tram in Sarajevo – which was introduced on May 1st, 1895, with electric lighting – had two doors and was able to accommodate 24 passengers. It replaced the horse-drawn system, and it used the usual route from the Railway station to the Latin bridge.

As announced by Sarajevo’s public transportation company, Public Transport Sarajevo, the ceremony will be attended by representatives from the Government of Canton Sarajevo, representatives from the City of Sarajevo, and other guests. The departure of the tram is scheduled for 11:30 am from the terminal at the Train station.
