For family trips, Dubrovnik is one of the ten most popular summer destinations this year on the global list of one of the largest booking platforms Booking, and the list is led by Durres in Albania and the Moroccan cities of Tandžier and Marrakesh, the platform reported today.

The list was compiled by Booking on the basis of research on trends in family summer vacations, conducted through an online survey back in July 2023 on a sample of almost 28,000 adults from 33 countries of the world who plan to travel for business or pleasure in the next 12 to 24 months, among which there were about 500 respondents in Croatia.

On that list, Dubrovnik came in eighth place for family summer vacations in 2024, and the first three, Albanian and Moroccan destinations, are followed by Destin in Florida, Seville and Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Tokyo in Japan, while behind Dubrovnik are Madrid (Spain) and Bangkok, Thailand.

Booking also reported that searches for family accommodation for the 2024 summer travel season increased by 8 percent compared to 2023, and flight searches globally by as much as 21 percent, which they say means strong interest in family travel this summer.

Families are looking for excellent beaches, delicious local cuisine and cultural experiences, and about 60 percent of those surveyed stated that they want to spend quality time on vacation, and that, along with true relaxation and discovering new places, is their biggest motivation for travel. According to Booking, this coincides well with the popular destinations for this summer, which include beaches, local cuisine and cultural offerings, as well as entertainment options for the whole family.

The research also showed that 55 percent of families in the world were inspired to travel by tasting food seen in a show or movie, especially on social networks, and about 50 percent of them plan to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools in planning to optimize.

Babysitters are also a trend on trips this summer, as 31 percent of families announced that they would probably spend money to look after their children, while for 74 percent comfort with air conditioning is the most important benefit when booking accommodation.
