Durakovic: I will speak firts as a Survivor of the Genocide, and then as Mayor of Srebrenica in New York

burakovicMayor of the Municipality of Srebrenica, Camil Durakovic, is currently in New York at a special plenary session of Clinton Global Initiative at the invitation of former President of the United States (US), Bill Clinton. He stated that he will speak primarily as survivor of the genocide, and then as Mayor of Srebrenica and a citizen of BiH.

Yesterday morning at 10:00 am according to European time was officially open the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative 2016. Durakovic is one of the participants in the panel on the topic “Reconciliation and joint society”, and his speech is scheduled for today from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm on local time.

“This is a rare opportunity and the biggest event in the world in the sphere of civil society. At the panel, among others participate the Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi, president of the Argentine Mauricio Macri, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, singers Bono Vox and Jon Bon Jovi, actor Ben Affleck and many others,” said Durakovic.

He added that the invitation for participation in the meeting received in May this year and that he was glad that the former US president, and according to him, the husband of the future president of the United States as the top priority placed BiH or Srebrenica.

Last night, he met with former US State Secretary Madeleine Albright, with whom he discussed the most important political issues in the world.

Moreover, this is one of the biggest events in the NGO sector in the world, and it takes place from 19th to 21st of September in New York. At the recent annual meetings, it was attended by many world political and business leaders including US President Barack Obama, then Bill Gates, Jack Ma, Hilary Clinton and many others.
