Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic called the statement of Zoltan Kovacs, spokesman for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, “the integration of two million Muslims a challenge for the European Union” shameful and rude.
As he said, he believes that the real challenges for the European Union are radical, xenophobic, racist policies whose advocates are appearing these days, and that there is no European Union if such policies have a future.
“It is not a challenge for the EU to integrate two million Muslims, because we are an indigenous European people who have always lived here and we are Europeans,” he said. Dzaferovic claims that Bosniaks protected universal civilization values even when it was the most difficult in history. He pointed out that he believes that the EU should be built on the unity of diversity, on the protection of individual human freedoms and rights, and on the European Convention on Human Rights. “We also believe in such an EU and we want to go to such an EU, and not the EU advocated by Orban and the clique that responded yesterday with these shameful messages,” Dzaferovic concluded.
