Džeko, for the third time, has been elected sportsperson of the year in BiH

Edin Džeko, for the third time, has been elected sportsperson of the year in BiH in traditional choice by ”Dnevni avaz” and ”Sport”.

BiH football player and Manchester City striker Edin Džeko and BiH and NBA basketball player Mirza Teletović were close, but in the end Džeko was chose the sportsperson of the year in BiH, Teletović is the second, while Safet Alibašić, gold medal winner at Para-Olympic games is the third.

Thirty prominent BiH sports journalists and sports workers voted in this competition and they had 12 candidates to choose from, reports Dnevni avaz.

Džeko won 103 points, Teletović 94, Alibašić 74, followed by Larisa Cerić with 71, Miralem Pjanić with 21, Ivana Ninković 19, Adnan Ćatić 18, Kemal Mešić 15, Asmir Begović 14, Vedad Ibišević 12, Adnan Šabanović 7 and Nihad Đedović 2.

Džeko also won this title in 2009 and in 2010, while in 2011 Amel Mekić won.

Famous winners of this selection are Sergej Barbarez (2005), Enid Tahirović (2006) Razija Mujanović (2007) and Vedad Ibišević (2008)
