Port Ploče nap.baEuropean Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a loan of 9.6 million Euros to the Port Ploče for the development of a new terminal for liquid cargo, the second largest port in Croatia and the far southern point of the 5C pan-European corridor.

The new terminal will have a capacity of 85.000 cubic meters, which is an increase of 50.000 cubic meters. The total investment amounts to 16.7 million euros and its completion is expected in June 2016.

”The aim of this important investment is to strengthen the Port Ploče. The new terminal will enable the increased traffic of cargo, which will encourage not only the development of the port, but also the neighboring countries. EBRD finds the development of Croatian and BH infrastructure a priority, and we are proud to provide support to this extremely perspective private company”, said Phil Bennett, the First Vice President of the EBRD, at the signing which took place in Tbilisi, where the Annual Meeting of the EBRD is being held.

”We appreciate and are grateful that the EBRD supports the Port Ploče by providing a loan to our subsidiary Port Ploče Trade. Upon realization of this project, the competitiveness of the domestic economy will be significantly increased. Strengthening the Port Ploče with the completion of construction of the new terminal for liquid cargo will encourage economic growth in the region, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, concluded the Captain Ivan Pavlović, the CEO of the Port Ploče.
