The European Investment Bank (EIB) confirmed that internal investigations are being conducted regarding the construction of certain sections of Corridor Vc concerning possible prohibited conduct.

“We can confirm that the EIB is conducting internal investigations into possible prohibited conduct in certain parts of Corridor Vc and that the relevant authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the European Union (EU) have been duly informed,” the EIB stated.

The bank added that, in connection with this, it has strengthened monitoring and reporting measures for operations related to Corridor Vc and has also taken other legal steps to ensure the integrity of financial investments.

An inquiry was sent to the EIB regarding media reports that the Public Company Motorways of the Federation of BiH (FBiH) is under investigation for suspected corruption and non-transparent spending of funds from European funds during the construction of the highway sections Medakovo-Poprikuse and Ozimice-Poprikuse.

According to the same reports, the funds in question come from European funds, which is why the EIB informed the European Public Prosecutor’s Office about the case, and since an Italian company was also involved in the project, the case was assigned to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in Venice.
