The Regulatory Commission for Energy in the Federation of BiH (FERK) approved at its session on Wednesday an increase in the price of electricity for end customers of JP Elektroprivreda BiH, and the new prices will come into effect on September 1.

“For customers from the household consumption category, the introduction of three tariff blocks is planned, depending on the amount of energy consumption on a monthly basis. It is a green block, which refers to the consumption of electricity from 0 to 350 kWh (kilowatt-hour), the blue block refers to the consumption of 351 to 1,000 kWh and the red block to every kWh consumed over 1,000 kWh,” FERK spokeswoman Ines Kujundžić said.

She confirmed that the total average increase is 6.85 percent.

According to her, for the category of other consumption the increase is 3.67 percent and for the category of public lighting 5.08 percent.

Kujundžić also pointed out that the new prices will start to apply from September 1 this year.

As she stated, the expert services carefully considered the proposal of “Elektroprivreda BiH” and after that it was proposed to the regulators that the Decision be made as proposed, because the proposal is in accordance with the methodology.

“In any case, the recommendation is that we all need to consume electricity rationally. In this proposal, as submitted to FERK, the differences between the blocks in the price of kWh are insignificant,” concluded Kujundžić.
