Last night the Embassy of USA in Sarajevo organized the Election Night on the occasion of the elections that were held in that country yesterday.

At the event, guests could follow the presidential elections in the USA and find out more about the election process itself. Ambassador Maureen Cormack addressed numerous invitees.

Americans were choosing between the candidate of the Democratic party Hillary Clinton and the republican candidate Donald Trump.

Citizens voted in each one of the 50 U.S. federal states and the city of Washington and victory in an individual state defines the way in which the members of Electoral College will vote. Electoral College is actually the body that elects the President of the USA.

Electoral College has 538 votes and each federal state has the number of representatives which is proportionate to the number of residents.

At the U.S. presidential election in 2012, less than 54 percent of voters voted.
