Enis Bešlagić declared the “Person of the Year”

12966116_1153303864720568_1729075209_nThe popular BiH actor Enis Bešlagić received the award that is presented to the deserving individuals within the traditional event “Večernjakov pečat” that was held on Monday in the City on Neretva, Mostar.

Mostar hosted the President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, who opened the event. “Večernjakov pečat” is funded largely from the budget of the FBiH, with the grant from the Ministry of Culture of FBiH as the “cultural event of international significance”.

In her addressing speech, President Grabar-Kitarović gave support to the BiH citizens and highlighted that Croatia will support BiH on the path towards the European Union.

Apart from the President Grabar-Kitarović, the President of the Croatian parliament Željko Reiner also came from the neighboring Croatia to this event. Reiner declared the person of the year – the actor Enis Bešlagić.

“This is the path I have been pursuing for some 10 to 12 years since I graduated from the Academy and decided I do not want to be a cantonal actor,” Bešlagić said and added that in the world he is trying to explain that “there is BiH where there are lovely people”.

“All of you, politicians, both in BiH and in the region, must know that you bear the heaviest burden on your back – will our children wait for being killed or keep living and studying in BiH and the European Union. That depends on you, therefore do not blame someone else, because if you cannot agree among yourselves, maybe there are people who can,” Bešlagić stated.

Bešlagić received the award because he was one of the volunteers who have been working for days on the preparations of the Sarajevo stadium Koševo for the mass served by Pope Francis during last year’s visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I assumed this kind of responsibility in terms of volunteering at the welcoming of Pope Francis because I did not want the third world war to start in Sarajevo, too,” the famous actor joked, but seriously invited all politicians in BiH “to prevent the war from happening ever again”.

“The people must know that you hang out with each other because their private relationships depend on your relationships. My relationships in the future in Mostar, Banja Luka, depend on how you hang out here, tonight. I beg you to never let the little Marko, who is a Croat with the surname Bošnjak (Bosniak) singing in Serbia, be attacked in BiH by us who are sitting here now, because you are the ones who are making decisions”.

Reflecting back on the past twenty years in BiH, Bešlagić said that it would be better if the politicians only left to work and returned back to their families.

“If they had not talked at all, I think the people would have been in the European Union a long time ago,” Bešlagić said.
