The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, spoke with the US Deputy Secretary of State and the US President’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.

The interlocutors discussed the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans.

The US President’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans stressed the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU as soon as possible, because the people of the Balkans are connected to Europe in economic and cultural terms.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, pointed out as an encouraging fact that the enlargement of the EU to the Western Balkans is not excluded. It was jointly stated that EU integration could be a factor in stabilizing the political situation in the region.

Escobar expressed full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH and that there is no constitutional possibility for the secession of a smaller BiH entity. He condemned the announcement of the moves of the member of the Presidency of BiH from the RS entities, which lead to escalation.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, said that he would not fall prey to Mr. Dodik’s provocations and that he strictly insisted only on the institutional response and the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The US President’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans stated that such a leadership approach to solving the problem is what the United States supports.

Chairman Komšić informed the special envoy of the US President about the police exercise that will be held tomorrow in East Sarajevo, Doboj and Prijedor, in which the MIA and the RS gendarmerie are participating, and said that it was clear that this was another provocative move with with the aim of producing conflict.
