PETER SORENSEN IBy signing the Agreement about the participation of B&H in the “Creative Europe” program, Bosnia and Herzegovina gets the chance to participate in the European creative space and all those in the cultural sector will be able to benefit from the “Creative Europe” fund worth 1,5 billion euros – was announced at the Delegation of the EU in B&H.

“B&H is well known by its numerous cultural and art activities and by its great potential for the future. This represents a remarquable thing for B&H because it will strengthen the contacts of those who are into creating and culture with their EU colleagues. It will stimulate further development of the cultural and creative industry in B&H.” – said the Delegation representative and special EU representative ambassador Peter Sorensen.

“Creative Europe” is a program developed by the European Comission. It supports the media and culture sector in the period of 2014 – 2020. In fact, it is the extention of the previous “Culture program” and “Media program”, but which is now being financed at a 9 % higher level.

The program consists of 2 sub-programs:

1. “Culture” – focused on supporting the cultural sector

2. “Media” – supporting audio- visual sector.

It is of great importance for B&H that “Creative Europe” supports initiatives of translating and promoting literary works all over EU, and it also supports networks helping the creative and cultural sector act with concurrence at the trans-national level – was stated at the communication.

Besides, this program helps to establish platforms for promoting new artists, the distribution of art works, supporting the production of TV programs, promotes interest in films through networks of cinemas or film festivals and ensures measures which make possible an international coproduction and increase of the distribution of audio-visual works.

Over 20 films directed by some of the most famous European names and released this year at the Cannes film festival, including 7 films competing for the main prize the Golden Palm, have been supported by the ”Creative Europe”.

All 28 members of the EU, as well as candidate countries and potential candidates can benefit from the “Creative Europe”.

Island, Lichtenstein, Norway and Suisse can also benefit from it, according to agreements made with those countries.
