The meeting of the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council, during which, among other things, the Western Balkans will be discussed, will be held today in Luxembourg.

During the meeting of foreign ministers of EU member states, which will be chaired by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, discussions will also be held on Russia’s war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, including the latest developments in Syria, EU relations with Africa and other current issues, with a focus on the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Western Balkans is on the agenda during the working lunch of EU ministers, who, as announced by the EU Council, will exchange views on EU relations with partners from the region, focusing on how to further enhance security and defense cooperation in facing political challenges and how to promote regional stability.

Kallas will inform the EU ministers about the latest developments in the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue, as well as about her recent visit to Montenegro, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

It is expected that the talks will focus on different aspects of the relations, especially on regional stability and security, developments in BiH and Serbia, and cooperation with key actors in the region.

Ahead of the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, Kallas last night hosted an informal dinner for the foreign ministers of the Western Balkans, during which the talks focused on security and defense issues.

After the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, the first high-level dialogue between the EU and Palestine is expected to be held.
