EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda welcomed the European Union Operational Commander, Lieutenant General Ludovic Pinon de Quincy, to EUFOR Headquarters at Camp Butmir for high-level discussions on the security environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the continued implementation of Operation Althea’s mandate.
The visit provided an important opportunity to review EUFOR’s current operational posture, readiness, and activities across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Discussions focused on the evolving security landscape and EUFOR’s continued ability to support the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
Major General Fronda briefed the EU Operational Commander on EUFOR’s ongoing activities and preparations for the upcoming Exercise Quick Response, which will provide an important opportunity to test EUFOR’s readiness, command and control procedures, and ability to rapidly integrate additional forces. The commanders highlighted the importance of continuous training and maintaining a visible, credible, and impartial force capable of responding to developments in the operational environment.
Lieutenant General Pinon de Quincy reaffirmed the importance of Operation Althea and the European Union’s continued commitment to peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speaking following the visit, Major General Fronda emphasised EUFOR’s continued focus on operational readiness.

Through continuous training, strong partnerships, and a clear understanding of the operational environment, we ensure our forces remain ready to support the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining a safe and secure environment,”said Major General Fronda.
The visit reaffirmed the strong coordination between the EU Operational Commander and EUFOR Headquarters, underscoring the European Union’s continued commitment to Operation Althea and to lasting peace, stability, and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
