EUFOR clarifies Ukrainian Participation in BiH

EUFOR is aware of a number of online articles pertaining to Ukrainian participation in EUFOR Op ALTHEA in BiH and Ukrainian troops already in transit.

While there was a formal agreement made in June 2020 between the EU and Ukraine (Political and Security Committee Decision (CFSP) 2020/1099 of 16 July 2020) permitting Ukrainian participation in Op ALTHEA, EUFOR can confirm that currently there are no developments on this.

There is no current participation of Ukrainian soldiers in EUFOR Op ALTHEA in BiH and at present there are no plans for Ukraine to join the 19 nations actively contributing to EUFOR Op ALTHEA.

However, Ukrainian personnel have previously attended the Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) of the AFBiH which is in Camp Butmir for training reasons.
