COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, continued his field visits across Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, beginning at Rajlovac Barracks, where he was welcomed by Colonel Elvir Faljić, Commander of the Tactical Support Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH).

During the visit, Major General Fronda received an operational update on the security situation, ongoing joint activities, and training conducted between EUFOR and AFBiH personnel, reaffirming the strong cooperation aimed at maintaining interoperability.

To the fore of Major General Fronda’s engagements was a visit to the Demining Battalion of the Tactical Support Brigade. The EUFOR Commander met with the Major Raif Veledar, Battalion Commander, who provided a comprehensive overview of the unit’s daily tasks, operational capabilities, and training courses. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of specialized courses delivered by the Battalion, as well as on the substantial number of square meters cleared annually through demining operations.

COM EUFOR also visited the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, highlighting the essential contribution of these highly trained professionals to the maintenance of a safe and secure environment.

The programme also included a visit to the Temporary Staging Area (TSA), within the framework of ongoing cooperation in support of arms control and stockpile safety initiatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The visit concluded at the EUFOR Liaison and Observation Team (LOT) House in Sarajevo, where the Slovakian contingent briefed Major General Fronda on their daily interactions with local communities. This update underscored the importance of maintaining close communication and fostering strong relationships with local citizens and institutions.

Major General Fronda expressed his appreciation to all personnel for their professionalism, dedication, and daily commitment. He reaffirmed EUFOR’s determination to remain visible, credible, and impartial in supporting the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
