EUFOR Deploys 400 Additional Soldiers to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Four New Helicopters to Arrive

The EUFOR-Althea mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will be increased by 400 soldiers. In addition to the increased number of soldiers, four new helicopters are also arriving in BiH.

According to available information, the increase of the EUFOR mission is being considered due to the current situation in BiH.

Unofficially, it is learned that out of the 400 new EUFOR soldiers, 120 would come from Hungary, 120 from Romania, and 120 from Bulgaria, while the rest would be soldiers from Slovenia.

The new EUFOR forces in BiH are expected to arrive on March 12th or 13th, that is, next week.

It should be recalled that several officials at the state level have requested a reaction from EUFOR, as the guarantor of the military implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, to the unconstitutional moves of the authorities in Republika Srpska (RS).

The situation further escalated when the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) employees at the Regional Office of this state agency in Banja Luka left their workplaces yesterday, following a request that came from the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It should also be pointed out that the new crisis in BiH arose after the President of RS, Milorad Dodik, signed decrees proclaiming unconstitutional laws that would ban the work of state institutions on the territory of this entity.

Dodik requested from EUFOR to “stop persons from the Federation who set out for the territory of RS,” while the leadership of the EUFOR has not made any statements regarding this situation, Klix.ba writes.
