The first match of the BiH football team at the World Cup brought the first point to the Dragons. Although the match against Canada in Toronto ended with a score of 1:1, the point won is a great success for our football team. The football players of BiH expect two more matches in this group, against Switzerland and Qatar.
After 12 years, the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina was played again at the World Cup. Our Dragons scored a goal against Canada in the 21st minute, and Jovo Lukić’s goal for our national team aroused strong emotions. The Dragons celebrated at the stadium in Toronto, but so did fans from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Although the match ended in a draw, our fans are proud and satisfied with the result that ended the Dragons’ first appearance at the World Cup. The matches against Qatar and Switzerland are eagerly awaited.
“Regarding the match against Canada, it ended well for our national team considering everything that happened on the field. It is inconvenient that we conceded a goal in the last ten minutes. All in all, Canada deserved a tie. This point brings us a more comfortable situation in the group because the triumph against Qatar will certainly lead us to the next round of the competition, which was the goal even before the start of the World Cup. We should not forget the match against Switzerland either. Of course we should give our maximum and try to achieve a positive result here. In our situation anything but defeat would be a good result against Switzerland,” said Ognjen Dujkovic, sports journalist in BHRT.
On Thursday, June 18, our Dragons will play against the Swiss national team in Los Angeles. Preparations for watching the next matches have already begun, and the fact that a large number of fans went to another continent to cheer on the Dragons at the World Cup shows how much support the national team has.
