tuzla_filmFor the last two years the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina has supported the Tuzla Film Festival (TFF), bringing together film artists and film goers from the Western Balkans. 4th TFF opens tonight and will screen movies from the region in the next four days.

Commenting on the support to the TFF, Head of the EU Delegation/EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, said:

“European integration is a process which involves society as a whole. Culture is no exception and the European Union pays special attention to culture and to cultural heritage of its Member States, and future Member States as well. In addition, to supporting reconstruction of Vijecnica in Sarajevo, Kastel in Banja Luka and many other important locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are glad to also support important cultural events, including the Tuzla Film Festival. We hope that citizens of Tuzla and their visitors will enjoy in great movies which will be screened in coming days”

Director of the Tuzla Film Festival, Boris Balta, expressed his gratitude by saying that support given by the EUSR once again proves that the TFF has become an important event in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which contributes to development of culture and film. “The film had been absent from Tuzla for almost 20 years. When we started the TFF in 2012 the city did not have a movie theatre. However, over the past three years we made 27 authors who started at our festival but have continued their work in film. We have created a new ambient which can lead to birth of film industry in Tuzla Canton”, Mr Balta said.

99 movies, divided in six categories, will be screened at the festival.
