The Institute for Statistics of FBiH (FZS) presented the current statistical data, according to which the export-import coverage in the FBiH in the period 2012-2016, as well as in the first ten months of 2017, recorded a steady growth.

According to Amer Koric, the Assistant Director of the Institute for Statistics of FBiH, the export-import coverage was 52.6 % in 2012, and it amounted to 57.3 % in the year of 2016. The source of data is the Indirect Taxation Authority.

He also noted that the exports in the FBiH continued with its steady growth throughout the year.

“A significant growth of exports in the amount of 16.7 % was registered already in the first ten months of this year in comparison to 2016, while imports recorded an increase of 14 %. When the data from 2016 are compared to 2012, we can see that the export-import coverage has increased by 4.7 % in 2016, while the coverage in the first ten months of 2017 was increased by 5.7 % in comparison to 2012,” said Koric.

Moreover, he added that EU represents the most important foreign trade partner of the FBiH, and we mostly exported to Germany, Croatia, Italy, Austria, and Slovenia. The situation is somewhat different when it comes to the import, because besides Croatia, Germany and Italy, which are the EU countries, among the top five partners are Serbia and China.

He also noted that the FBiH records the largest positive balance with Austria, while it has the negative balance with Croatia and Italy, which makes 27.9 % of the total deficit.

According to the survey on the workforce, the most of employed people work in the service sector – 55.5 % and the most unemployed people are those with secondary school – 72.9 %.
