Exports of Clothing and Footwear from Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded Decrease

Exports of the textile, clothing, leather and footwear industry from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first half of the year amounted to about 668.1 million BAM and is lower by 15.84% compared to the same period last year.

The import of these products in the same period was around 819.7 million BAM and is lower by 18.79% compared to the first half of last year.

The coverage of imports by exports of the textile, clothing, leather and footwear industry in the first six months of last year amounted to 78.65%, while this year it increased to 81.51%, which is attributed to reduced imports and exports, said at a meeting of the Association textile, clothing, leather and footwear industries of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.

The Association emphasizes that the authorities at all levels of government in BiH must give importance to this branch of the economy in the coming period, considering that it participates with 9% in the total foreign trade business of the country and because it employed between 35,000 and 40,000 workers last year.

At the meeting in Sarajevo, it was stated that companies from the textile and footwear sector, although directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the introduced measures, both in BiH and in the world, still came to the aid of the country and the entire population. period of the most sought after products for human protection.
