On 8th December 2012, 41st General Assembly of European Olympic Committee in Rome decided that cities of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo will host the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in 2017 which will host more than 1500 athletes from more than 40 countries.

This event will greatly benefit BiH winter tourism, and sports infrastructure of the Olympic mountains (Bjelašnica, Igman,Jahorina) will be rehabilitated, which will put Sarajevo to a map of future big sports events.

EYOWF 2017 is the strategic project not just for Sarajevo, but also for East Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton and the entire BiH, because everyone in BiH needs to cooperate so that the event passes in the best possible manner.
