FB&H Hydrometeorological Institute in IPA Project Activities

meteorologijaUnder the IPA project ‘building resilience to disasters in Western Balkan countries’’; in Sarajevo the final two-day activities on the design of a regional system of early warning on various natural disasters and phenomenon are taking place.

The FB&H Hydrometeorological Institute held working meetings of a special team of the World Meteorological Organization with experts of the institute and representatives of water management agencies.

The aim is to analyze the current situation, taking into consideration the four main components of the system of early warning, which are: detection, monitoring and disaster forecasting and analyzing risks and using the information to prepare and plan activities in the case of catastrophes, distributing warnings that should be carried out by state bodies and activating plans in the case of exceptional circumstances for preparing and answering to them.

On Wednesday, 19 February, the B&H Ministry of Security will hold a roundtable, a joint meeting of representatives of all relevant organizations responsible for the early warning system: Ministry of Security B&H, Civil Protection of FB&H and RS, entity water management companies and entity hydrometeorological institutes.

The end of the two-day activities will be formalized by the official ceremony of the official ‘launch’ of the MeteoAlarm in B&H.
