The FBiH to change its Politics towards Unemployed Residents?

After Canton of Sarajevo and the Entity of the RS, the FBiH will also change its politics towards unemployed residents, since the program of work of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the FBiH for 2018 envisaged the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Employment Mediation and Social Security of Unemployed Persons.

“The Draft Law prescribes amendments to the Law on Employment Mediation and Social Security of Unemployed Persons regarding the definition of unemployed person, obligations of unemployed person regarding active job search, termination of keeping the unemployed person in the records of the employment service, the obligations of the employment services regarding the notices of employers on vacancies and regarding the right to unemployment benefit during the period of unemployment,” said Minister Drljaca.

During the amendment to the law, added Minister Drljaca, the ministry will achieve cooperation with the public employment services in the FBiH and social partners.

“Therefore, the Draft Law will be handed over to the Employment Service of the FBiH, all cantonal employment services and the Federation of Employers of the FBiH and the Association of Independent Unions of BiH for obtaining their opinion,” said Drljaca.

The aim of changing the politics towards unemployed residents in the FBiH is, among others, a better connection between the employing services and the employers. Numerous employers in BiH are not satisfied with the work of employment services which, according to many, should not only keep records of the unemployed people.

To recall, since the beginning of this year, the unemployed people in the employing services of the smaller BH entity have to document that they went on a job interview once a month and that they are looking for a job. Otherwise, they will not be registered in the employment service. Similar practice is expected to take place in both Canton of Sarajevo and the entire territory of the FBiH.
