FBiH Government Delegation meets US Energy Secretary Wright on Southern Interconnection

Nermin Nikšić, Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vedran Lakić, Federal Minister of Energy, Mining,and Nerin Dizdar, Federal Minister for Displaced Persons and Refugees met with U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, during their visit to the US.

Joshua Volz, Special Envoy of the United States Department of Energy, also attended the meeting. He recently visited Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he held talks with the Prime Minister Nikšić, and the Minister Lakić.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Southern Interconnection project.

The Prime Minister Nikšić and Minister Lakić informed the hosts that both houses of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Gas Pipeline “Southern Interconnection of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.”

They emphasized that this formed a legal framework for implementation and further execution of this strategic energy project involving a U.S. investor. They also discussed the upcoming activities, and especially about the concluding anagreement with the investor. In that context, the need to resolve the issue of state property in the coming period was also emphasized, in order to ensure a smooth implementation of this project.

“This occasion also emphasized that the strong security cooperation and economic partnerships contribute to the stability, strengthening of the capacity, and creating new developmental opportunities in our country,” it was stated in the press release.

During their visit to the United States of America, the Delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was headed by Chair Deputy of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina said in a statement.
