In the Federation of BiH Government building, a meeting of delegations of the Federation of Independent Mining Workers’ Union of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held with Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić and relevant minister Vedran Lakić. Although they expected the presence of representatives of Elektroprivreda BiH, they were not present at the meeting.

Union representatives have once again reiterated their demands, that is, compliance with the signed agreement, which stipulates that miners’ salaries will be paid on the 25th of every month. Therefore, they are asking for the immediate payment of the salary for the month of June, as well as the payment of a hot meal for the months of May and June. As they told Federalna TV, it was said that after the end of the meeting, an urgent request will be sent to Elektroprivreda BiH, which will ask for the payment of the mentioned funds.

We would like to remind you that the miners’ salaries for June and allowances for hot meals for May were late, which is why on Tuesday, after the end of the first shift, the miners of the second shift, who had already spent the night underground for two nights, went on strike.

The director of the Zenica mine, Mensur Hukić, said yesterday that the salary and remuneration for the hot meal were not paid due to the fact that the realized production in the month of June was only 9,168 tons of coal, which is 25.5 percent of the production plan for that month, and that the realized income “out of only 396,000 BAM, which is nowhere near enough to fulfill obligations”.

In addition to small production, he added, the account of the Zenica mine in the amount of 1,355,000 BAM was also blocked, this time the account was primarily blocked by workers who are no longer employees of the Company. Production for the first six months of this year was only 86,367 tons, or 40.25 percent of the plan, which was 214,600 tons.
