The Federal Government has on Thursday accepted the Loan Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the implementation of the Public Transport Project in Sarajevo in the amount of up to15,000,000 Euros.
The funds are intended for the procurement of new electric trolleybuses and related activities, with the aim of improving infrastructure development, increasing the capacity and efficiency of eco-friendly public transport services in Sarajevo.
The repayment period is 13 years, with a two-year grace period. The funds will be transferred to the Canton of Sarajevo, as the end-user and the debtor under this charge.
Earlier, during the meeting with Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo Edin Forto and Minister of Traffic Adnan Steta, it was concluded that 25 new trolleybuses will be bought.
“We have met the staff working on trolleybus maintenance, and they do not hide their pleasure and have great ideas to introduce new trolleybuses for which we will announce the tender in several days,” Prime Minister Forto said.
Minister Steta has stressed that new trolleybuses will greatly facilitate the functionality of public transport in Canton and as promised at the beginning of the year, soon Sarajevo will get new modern trolleybuses that can be seen in cities around the world.
They also talked about the adopted budget, which envisages a new five-million-euro debt extension for the trolleybus network to Vogosca settlement.
